A two story modern farmhouse in mixed brick under a standing seam gable roof. The kitchen anchors the plan with a forest green island and a white brick backsplash, the dining room carries a planked wood ceiling, and the family room vaults to the ridge.
Two story is still the exception in the Valley, and it changes the design problem: the elevation has to hold together vertically, and the stair has to land somewhere that does not eat the plan.
Colour is doing the heavy lifting inside. A forest green island against white brick and quartz keeps the kitchen from disappearing into the neutral palette the rest of the house runs.
