South Texas Builders began in 1992 when Israel González founded Gonzalez Construction in Alice, Texas. Today his son Javier leads it as Construction Manager, which makes this a genuine second generation family business. Fourteen people handle design, drafting, permitting, scheduling, finance, site supervision and client communication in house, the same team from your first meeting to your final walkthrough.

Where it started

Israel González started this company on a simple belief: if you build for families, you build with integrity. Over the years that belief became the foundation for hundreds of homes and lasting relationships across South Texas.

What began as a family construction company in Alice grew into a custom home builder serving the Rio Grande Valley, the Coastal Bend and Jim Wells County. Under Javier González, the next generation carries the same promise with a more refined process, a stronger in house team, and the hands on pride that built the name.

What we believe

We are not here to build generic houses. We are here to build homes that reflect the people who will gather in them, grow in them, and spend their lives in them. That is why the process is centred on clarity, communication, thoughtful design and craftsmanship that lasts.

What we hold to

Three commitments, and what each one costs us

Values are cheap when nobody has to pay for them. These have a price and we pay it.

  • 01

    Custom means custom

Homes designed around your lot, your lifestyle and how your family actually lives. That is slower than pulling a plan from a catalog, and it is why we take on a limited number of homes a year.

  • 02

    A transparent process

Every line of the contract is reviewed before you sign, what is included, what is not, and what each thing costs. Clients tell us the absence of surprises is what they remember. That means telling you the uncomfortable numbers early.

  • 03

    South Texas roots

Regional knowledge earned community by community over three decades: which soils move, which cities review fast, where windstorm applies, which parcels qualify for USDA. It is not transferable and it is not learnable from a distance.

The people

Fourteen people, not a revolving door of contacts

Construction oversight, scheduling, design selections, permitting, financing coordination and drafting, each role is part of one process, and the same faces stay on your project.
